NHS Data Model and Dictionary Review of e-GIF definitions

Closed 18 Aug 2013

Opened 19 Jul 2013

Overview

The NHS Data Model and Dictionary includes definitions to support the e-Government Interoperability Framework (e-GIF) and the UK Government Data Standards Catalogue (GDSC). Following Cabinet Office advice that the framework should now be considered deprecated, the NHS Data Model and Dictionary Service issued DDCN 1345/2013 e-Government Interoperability Framework (e-GIF) and Government Data Standards Catalogue to advise that e-Gif/GDSC definitions were archived.

Further actions for the NHS Data Model and Dictionary are as follows:

  • where definitions reference e-GIF/GDSC and are in use by existing national collections, these definitions will be retained.
  • where definitions reference e-GIF/GDSC and are not in use by existing national collections, these definitions will be retired.

This consultation invites users to comment on the list of items marked for retirement to determine whether they are in use locally and are still required in the NHS Data Model and Dictionary for reference.

To participate in this consultation:

  • Please refer to the document eGIF_Consultation_Exercise.xls in the Related Documents section below to access the links to the NHS Data Model and Dictionary definitions marked for retirement.
  • Once these items have been accessed and checked, please respond to the online survey to confirm whether the definitions are currently in use locally or are no longer required.

The NHS Data Model and Dictionary Service will analyse the responses to determine a final list of definitions to be retired.
