NHS Digital's PLICS data collections support the NHS Improvement Costing Transformation programme.
We, NHS Digital (formally known as HSCIC) have received a mandatory request from Monitor (known as NHS Improvement) under sections 255(1), 256(1)(a) and 256(2)(a) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012, to establish and operate a system for the collection and analysis of PLICS data from Ambulance, Mental Health and IAPT providers for Financial Year 2019/2020 data.
Under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, we must consult:
This document sets out that consultation in respect of the PLICS Ambulance data.
Financial year 2019/2020 data is the first year in which patient-level costs are mandated for the Ambulance sector - see https://improvement.nhs.uk/resources/mandating-patient-level-costing-ambulance/
The dataset planned to be collected by NHS Digital from Ambulance providers is contained within Annex A of the draft Mandatory Request (see link below under 'Related').
This includes changes following a previous PLICS Ambulance pilot collection undertaken by NHS Digital. The dataset changes include alignment where feasible, with the emerging Ambulance Dataset.
The collection of Financial Year 2019/2020 PLICS data is scheduled to take place in January 2021.
This consultation is aimed primarily at Ambulance Trusts who are due to provide the PLICS data.
This consultation may also be of interest to other stakeholders including potential users of the data.
Users are invited to complete the below survey in the context of the above.
